Summary


We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to come and join our service within acute inpatient mental health at the Caludon Center, Coventry.

The post holder is required to work within multi-disciplinary age independent 24/7 male assessment and recovery ward, which provides services to those experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis where an inpatient stay is necessary.

The post holder will be welcomed into our strong multidisciplinary ward and unit team. Management and professional support is provided through the allied health professions team.
• Lead the development, delivery and evaluation of effective occupational therapy on the ward.
• Contribute to the maintenance and development of the therapeutic environment within the ward and unit.
• Contribute to the holistic assessment of physical and mental well being needs.
• Deliver relevant evidence based interventions.
• Engage with carers and significant others in response to identified needs.
• Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of ward activity interventions.

We have a large allied health professions team within the service, and professional supervision, support and development is provided.

1. To undertake relevant evidence based occupational assessments in order to inform formulation of need; on ward recovery interventions; and effective discharge planning.

2. To collaborate with service users and the team to facilitate occupational interventions to improve emotional regulation and participation in meaningful activities and roles. Including:
• Efficacy to (re)engage in doing
• Exploring options for activity
• Optimising required self care / independent living skills
• Education regarding management of symptoms and risk, within activity
• (Re) Establishing productive / valued routines
• Developing / maintaining organisation and skills
• Use of aids, adaptations and environmental modification to support engagement in activity
• Supporting transitions into new physical and social environments
• Consultation, liaison and advice
• Supporting engagement in leisure & exercise
• Vocational guidance, signposting and advice as applicable
• Identifying use of occupation for risk, symptom management and relapse prevention.
• Complete outcome measures and audit
• Contribute to co production for service development and delivery
