Summary


This is exciting opportunity to lead a team of dedicated to high quality patient care. We are looking for an expert in transthoracic echocardiography who can work with the wider team to ensure effective, evidence based service delivery for, implementation of and adherence to best practice guidance and identification and introduction of service developments.

We are looking for a clinical scientist with the experience to lead and oversee the echocardiography training, education and research programme for the department, developing and implementing a training strategy for all echocardiography trainees (including STP, ETP, and Cardiology registrars, internal development posts working towards BSE accreditation) as well as continued professional development of qualified staff. You will lead/participate in research and audit within the department. You will also lead and oversee the quality assurance process for the department ensuring it is fit for purpose and implemented in line with local policy. The role includes line management of Band 7 roles within the department.

Part time working will be considered.

You will be an expert in transthoracic echocardiography and will work with the wider team to ensure effective, evidence based service delivery for, implementation of and adherence to best practice guidance and identification and introduction of service developments. You will assist the lead non-invasive cardiac physiologist in managing the echocardiography resource efficiently and effectively.

You will lead and oversee the Echocardiography training, education and research programme for the department, developing and implementing a training strategy for all echocardiography trainees (including STP, ETP, and Cardiology registrars, internal development posts working towards BSE accreditation) as well as continued professional development of qualified staff. You will line manage the Band 7 Education lead and lead/participate in research and audit within the department.

You will lead and oversee the quality assurance process for the department ensuring it is fit for purpose and implemented in line with local policy. You will line manage the Band 7 QA lead.

You will act as an expert practitioner providing advice and direction to the rest of the team and other members of the MDT.
