An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and an enthusiastic Band 5 Nurse to join our friendly, dynamic team in the Dermatology Department, based at Arndale House, The Mall Luton.

Experience within a dermatology and phototherapy setting is desirable however; full training will be given to the successful candidate, who demonstrates a keen interest and proven track record of personal and professional development and are willing to undergo training to meet this role. You must however possess a flexible attitude and commitment to this role, and must be willing to work across two sites.

The successful candidates main job will include:
- Full training on Phototherapy and patient treatments.
- Assisting in minor surgery procedures alongside surgical nurses and Doctors.
- Collaborating with the Band Six Dermatology Sister to manage leg ulcers.
- Training for patch testing and PDT.
- Teaching and delivering systemic injections to patients.
- Training for Ederma with consultant support.
- Ordering supplies and medications, including emollients, topical steroids, and FP10.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Discussing and agreeing on assessment outcomes with patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Specific clinical training modules.
- Maintaining accurate nursing documentation and communication with clinicians.
- Respecting patients' dignity, privacy, and beliefs.
- Adhering to infection control policies and standards.
- Providing infection control advice to patients and visitors.
- Ensuring evidence-based nursing care and follow-up for patients.
- Supporting the development of clinical protocols and strategies.
- Integrating pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
- Effective communication within the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).

The post holder will have full training on Phototherapy and the treatments it can offer to patients

The post holder will be given training for PDT.

To teach and deliver the systemic injections to the patients

Training for Ederma, this is a nurse-led service, but with support from the consultants.

Ordering the supplies and medications, this will include emollients, topical steroids and FP10 for the department.

Have excellent communication skills

Discusses and agrees assessment outcomes with patients, carers and other health care professionals to enable patients to make an informed decision regarding their treatment.

Specific Clinical training modules

Communicates proactively with all clinicians on the clinical condition and treatment plan of patients and ensure accurate nursing documentation is maintained.

Ensures dignity, privacy and cultural and religious beliefs of patients.

Ensures own practice is conducted within the trust/unit and ward policies in order to maintain professional, clinical and patient safety.

Has in-depth knowledge of infection control policies, local divisional strategy with practical experience and principles in relation to the clinical environment, patient acre, the prevention of cross infection, outbreak management, good hand hygiene and environmental cleaning.

Ensures the correct advice is available and given to patients and relatives/visitors to the department with regard to control of infection.

Ensures continuity of a high standard of evidence based nursing care, assessing nursing needs of patients, their families and other carers in relation to would care management if appropriate.

Accepts responsibility for own patient caseload, ensuring all patients have an accurate plan of care, which reflects the assessment undertaken and incorporates the issues and recommendations made ensuring clear documentations in the patients records.

Follow-up patients as appropriate and ensure all relevant information is available to enable patients to make an informed choice about their treatment.

Supports the Dermatology unit with identification and development of clinical protocols and strategies to enhance both the continuity and standard of specialist care whilst ensuring equity of access to the service.

Integrates both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment in patient care/management plans.

Ensures that accurate, essential and appropriate written and verbal information is conveyed to wider MDT to ensure effective management of patients.
