We close at midday on Xmas Eve through to Jan and give time off during the day for appointments where possible. Give staff time off to go to own children’s plays, parents evenings etc. Give a gift from the company on birthdays (flowers/chocolate/ bottle of wine). Christmas party/ hamper, Treat days, Dress down days. If staff have issues with own childcare, we move shifts around to try and accommodate them Managers arrange lunch vans etc. e.g., wrights van, upper crust, Bugsy’s & breakfast runs. Staff leave early if all children have gone and are still paid. We allow important calls to be made/ received during shift. We offer a 50% staff discount on nursery fees and a discount to nieces/ nephews/ grandchildren. Accommodating a 4-day shift if a staff member needs a day off but has no holiday. Chef cooks staff dinners if they request it- makes life easier for staff not having to prepare lunches at home and for those that might find buying lunch each day financially difficult. Practitioner days Ensuring the staff have access to tea, coffee etc. Child 1st subscribes to SAS - giving staff free access to Nurses, GP's, mental well-being counselling and much more. Staff who become ill during the day and need to go home are not docked pay for the remainder of the day as a reward for attempting to come and work. Pay rise every year without fail. Training- the company pays for all training and any time taken outside of working hours. Paid non-contact time & planning time given and staff can grab a hot drink whilst doing this. Managers try their best to provide comfortable staff rooms for a break away from the children. Robust, in-depth policies in place to protect and support staff. Managers ensure that nursery is a ‘safe space’ for all staff, especially those staff who are dealing with personal issues.
