Job Description:
We are looking for a caring, reliable and patient Personal Assistant to support a child with complex health needs who requires a high level of support during tasks and activities. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, attentive and experienced in supporting children with additional needs.
About the Role
The PA will provide one-to-one support at home and in the community, helping access activities safely while promoting independence, communication and wellbeing.
Main Duties
• Providing close supervision and support during activities and outings
• Supporting communication
• Assisting with personal care where required
• Monitoring and supporting diabetes management
• Encouraging social interaction, play and engagement in enjoyable activities
• Maintaining a calm, safe and structured environment
• Working closely with parents/carers and following agreed routines and care plans
Essential Requirements
• Experience working with children with autism and/or additional needs
• Calm, patient and understanding nature
• Ability to build trust and positive relationships
• Awareness or experience of Type 1 diabetes management
• Good communication and observation skills
• Reliable and flexible approach
• Enhanced DBS check (which can be provided prior to commencement)
Desirable
• Training in autism support, diabetes care or first aid
Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
Benefits:
5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata)
Sick pay at SSP rate
