Post: Female Carer required for Child (Females only need apply as permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010)
Place of Work: Based in employer’s home in East Dundee and the local community.
Rate of Pay: £13.45 per hour
Hours of Work: 3x 2 hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. (May be Flexible)
Background
Working with autistic child who is non-verbal, has limited ability to understand and needs support to carry out tasks. Impulsive behavior may come up but that’s very rare. Parents are looking for assistance on weekends to look after and provide care with performing some activities. Applicants must be friendly, caring, sensitive and good company. Applicant should be passionate about making a difference in the life of an autistic child.
Main Duties
Personal care:
• Washing if get messy while playing around.
• Assist putting on/off shoes.
• Imparting the knowledge to girl about hygiene when providing
personal care.
Other tasks:
• Carrying out learning activities (training will be given, if required).
• Tabletop activities or help in carrying out physical exercises.
• Accompanying on social outings.
Person Specification
Essential:
• Honest, reliable and trustworthy.
• Friendly, caring, sensitive and good company.
• Previous experience and training working with autistic people.
Desirable:
• Awareness of PECS or other communication methods.
• Ability to switch among different activities as per the interest of girl.
A full PVG is required.
The Self-directed Support Service exists to support people to employ their own Personal Assistants and/or purchase services using direct payments. As an organisation we are not the employer but assist people to look for staff if they need them. If you are employed, your contract will be with the person in receipt of the direct payment and not with Dundee Carers Centre or the Self-directed Support Service.
