NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming primary school in Batley.
This full-time role is to support a child in KS1 who is nonverbal autistic. The successful candidate will work closely with the pupil, helping to provide consistent, nurturing and personalised support throughout the school day.
This is a long-term opportunity starting ASAP and would suit candidates with strong SEN experience and a patient, adaptable approach.
The Role:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil
- Supporting a nonverbal autistic child with communication and sensory needs
- Assisting with learning, play-based activities and emotional regulation
- Supporting communication, engagement and social development
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff
- Creating a safe, positive and engaging learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous SEN experience is essential (preferably in an SEN provison)
- Experience supporting children with autism and communication needs is highly desirable
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
