Support Worker - County Durham Secondary School Long-term temporary position, competitive daily rates, September 2026 start.
We are recruiting a Learning Support Worker for a secondary school in County Durham ahead of September 2026. This is a long-term temporary role within an established support team, working closely with students who require additional assistance to access the curriculum and thrive in a secondary school environment.
The school is a supportive and inclusive setting that values its support staff and recognises the vital role they play in student outcomes. You'll be working across KS3 and KS4, building relationships with students over time and providing the kind of consistent, reliable support that makes a genuine difference.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting students with a range of additional needs across KS3 and KS4
- Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions
- Assisting teachers with classroom management and differentiation
- Helping students to access the curriculum and develop independence
- Contributing to an inclusive and positive learning environment
- Liaising with teaching staff and the SENCO where required
You'll need:
- Experience working with secondary school aged children in a support role
- An understanding of SEND and how to support diverse learners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, reliable, and student-focused approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Level 3 qualification desirable but not essential with relevant experience
