The post holder will work as a member of the Light house Team at Hillingdon Hospital. They will be accountable to the Team Manager and will support the Team Manager in the day to day clinical management of the Light House service. Working closely with the Team Manager and the local Consultant Psychiatrists, the post holder will ensure that team members are delivering a responsive, high quality and user friendly service for service users and the Acute Trust.

The post-holder will work with the Team Manager to deliver a service which is soundly evidence based, has a reputation for quality and support the team to ensure that all available resources are utilised efficiently and within budget. The post-holder will be expected to regularly undertake delegated responsibilities and duties by the Team Manager and/or the Service Manager as required.

The post-holder will be expected to work flexibly in a senior clinical role within the team. The working hours will be a combination of day, night, and 9-5 shifts.



Clinical Responsibilities, Patient Contact

Responsible for the effective management of a clinical team /service

Create a physical and psychological environment conducive to the provision of high quality care.

Assess patients’ needs and formulate, develop and implement programs of care as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team

Evaluate practice of members of the nursing team ie. programmes of care, interface with other professionals and agencies.

Communicate with patients and carers in order to negotiate care planning and draw together feedback on the standard of service delivery.



To act at all times in the best interest of patients/carers

Research and Audit

To participate in clinical audit, leading audit projects for clinical area.

To contribute to wider service audit in collaboration with Team Manager colleagues.

To support a culture of research and evidence-based practice within own clinical setting.

To promote the team’s active role in the audit programme, as identified within individual appraisals, to enable the evaluation and development of the service

To lead Managerial Supervision, ensuring all staff receive supervision within agreed timescales.

To ensure that all staff access Clinical Supervision, as per Trust policy.



To communicate in a way which recognises difference and ensures that people feel included and their individual communication needs are met.



To advocate communication which encompasses the Trust’s Compact, to support positive communication within the team.



To communicate in a timely manner regarding clinical and managerial information.

To maintain confidentiality of information regarding service users and their families and friends at all times.

Communicate relevant information (within confidentiality protocols) to share knowledge, agree action plans and detail individual responsibilities. This will include discussions regarding risks, vulnerabilities, child protection and safeguarding.
