Senior Data Developer

Salary: £64,787 per annum

Hours: Full time - 35 hours per week/ 70 hours over two weeks (nine-day fortnight)

Location: This is hybrid role therefore the successful applicant must be able to commute easily to our Head Office in Birmingham

The role

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Data Developer to join our IT Technical Services here at Housing 21.

Within the role of Senior Data Developer you will be expected to be a key builder of the data systems within H21, empowering users to analyse quality data to serve growing business needs. As well as actively delivering project requirements, the role will entail translating technical strategy from the Systems Architect & Development Manager and senior stakeholders into tangible high quality, scalable solutions for business areas within Housing 21.

You will play a key role in mentoring and guiding members of the Development team towards maturing their skills and practices by introducing them to new and innovative tools and methodologies.

The post holder will lead in the Design and Development of robust data pipelines across batch and near real-time processing patterns and contribute to architecture discussions and cloud migration strategies as well as collaborating with clients to define requirements and deliver innovative solutions.

You will be involved in creating and maintaining technical documentation, as well as communicating with stakeholders and other teams. Supporting with internal capability development by sharing expertise and experience as well as provide resolution on BAU issues within the H21 technical environments when escalated beyond the Service Desk.

The role is Hybrid therefore you must live within a commutable distance of our Head Office in Birmingham to meet the requirements of the role.

What we’re looking for

The essential requirements for the role include:

• Substantial experience in a data engineering role utilising Microsoft Synapse, ADF or Fabric
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft data technologies including Fabric
• Strong understanding of Lakehouse and modern analytics architectures
• Proficiency with using PySpark, SQL and Power Query (M) within a Microsoft data environment
• Experience implementing medallion (bronze/silver/gold) patterns
• Solid grasp of data modelling, data quality, and governance concepts
• Strong experience of ETL/ELT approaches, and data modelling techniques
• Proven track record of delivering production analytical platforms
• Experience of using Azure DevOps for managing tasks and source code and building and using CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of platform governance, security, and workspace strategies
• Experience of ingesting SQL, ODATA, Rest APIs, Flat file imports, etc. into Microsoft data technologies
• GCSE Maths & English, grade C or above
