The Opportunity At Westonbirt Prep, a creative and ambitious curriculum, a team of talented and enthusiastic staff and the glorious Gloucestershire countryside combine to create the perfect conditions for learning.We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and caring learning support assistant with a ‘can-do’ attitude to join our friendly, supportive team as soon as possible.The position involves working on a 1:1 basis with a child currently in Year 2 who has additional needs.The child’s needs relate to: Social Communication Needs (Autism) Settling to the task and maintaining the child’s focus and attentionSupporting the child to become independentUnderstanding and following routines Helping the child to select scaffolding resourcesSupporting at breaktime with play and interaction with peersThe pupil has no behavioural needs and is an absolute delight to work with.You will be required to support the child not just in the classroom and day-to-day activities, but also through targeted interventions out of the classroom and social support.Please note that the role also includes some breaktime and lunchtime duties, supporting the pupil with social interaction.Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.Personal Specification The successful candidate will have the following skills, experience and qualities:A caring and sympathetic person who will enjoy working with children across the prep school.A committed, charismatic, reliable role model.A sense of humour, adaptability and a love of being with children are paramount.Pastoral care is a strong feature of life at Westonbirt Prep, and all staff are expected to contribute to this by creating a warm and caring environment for all.A team player who is willing and keen to support their colleagues and to cover where reasonably asked to do so.Good organisational and time-keeping skills are of key importance.Hours, Salary and BenefitsHours: The role is 14 hours per week (term time only) (2 days per week) working with a named child. This is a fixed term position and employment is dependent upon the pupil remaining at the school.This is a job share.
