Crynodeb
To work as part of the Emergency Department team in providing a safe, effective and hygienic environment. ENVIRONMENT -Look after the general area ensuring cleanliness, health and safety compliance, minimal clutter, identifying minor repairs needed to relevant department e.g ceiling tiles, locks, fixtures and fittings, electrical sockets, plumbing. -liaise with estates and report any repairs required. -Liaise with domestics for any assistance required maintaining a clean and stocked environment. -Ensure the rear ED corridor is also free of clutter in a tidy state, broken beds and LAS trolleys removed. To ensure sufficient stock supplies in the interest of infection control e.g PPE and signage. STOCK -To maintain an organised and effective system for storage of stock. -Ensure all stock rooms are organised, clean and tidy. -Manage the Omnicell for stock supplies in way of ensuring correct balances, within expiry dates. Monitoring staff access, compliance and educating or escalating appropriately. -Liaise with stores colleagues current stock lists, additional stocks needed, adjustments to current stock lists with changing demand or upcoming bank holidays where extra stock needed. -Ensure adequate supply of documentation e.g consent forms, ED booklets, ED checklists, prescription pads. -Liaise with reprographics for ordering as required. SLUICE -To clean daily sluices using red clinell all surfaces, Commodes. Stock gloves, wipes and aprons. -Check sufficient supply and inspect for damages commodes and bed pans. -Ensure sufficient supply of pulp products urinals, pans vomit bowls. -Check macerator is working and clear daily and report as necessary for repair if needed. EQUIPMENT -To ensure that all general and specialist equipment e.g monitors, stands, medical devices are cleaned and in working order in accordance with manufacturers instructions. -Report to the appropriate department if equipment repair/maintenance is needed. -Ensure equipment for repair is decontaminated in line with trust policy. -Keep track of department owned equipment and retrieve and return from borrowing departments if not returned. LINEN -Ensure effective supplies of Linen including pillows. -Ensure sufficient staff supply of scrubs available. -Ensure linen bags always available in areas and not overflowing in between domestic changes. PROPERTY -Addressing enquires regarding lost property from patients, relatives and wards. -Checking daily for any property left in the department and act accordingly. SHARPS BINS -Check and appropriately dispose of full sharps bins daily. Labelling correctly. -Ensure a sufficient supply of empty sharps bins. Be approachable, available and respond to requests in a timely manner. Report via the Ulysses system any safety concerns and significant issues. Escalate to the nurse in charge any issues that arise on shift where assistance is required. Escalate to nursing staff any patients concern noted whilst on shift considering also safeguarding concerns if any identified. Any other reasonable housekeeper tasks related to healthcare within individuals scope of practice.
