The Role
The PDO Manager position supports the Group Warrant Officer (GWO) by providing management oversight of all WETG PDO’s along with any Gunwharf and supplementary ratings.
You will also act as Divisional Officer (DO) for Phase 3 Trainees on Career Courses, so that policy contained within BRd3 and WETG Standing Orders are complied with. Supporting trainees in their division to reach the training standards required and allow trainees to become holistically ready for their future assignment.
Key Responsibilities
Accountable to the WETG GWO for the coordination and management of DO’s supervising ratings assigned to WETG career courses and margin positions.
To act as DO to Phase 3 Trainees on Career Courses, as directed by WE Training WO complying with WETG orders and MOD policy.
Undertake the role and associated responsibilities as DO for up to 60 trainees of OR2-OR6 rate range.
Perform the functions of a Reporting Officer and DO to all PDOs and any additional personnel as nominated.
Complete End Of Course Reports (Non-appraisal) for each trainee within their division on completion of Career Course.
To ensure trainees are prepared in all aspects prior to attending Leadership Courses.
Undertake corrective measures against trainees as required.
To discuss with WETG Management any remedial action necessary to improve a trainees’ ability to progress satisfactorily through the training course.
Ensure that the highest standards of discipline, conduct and appearance are maintained within their division.
There will be times in this role, as a Divisional Officer, you may need to support a member of you division away from the local area in accordance with the Terms of Reference. (For example - Court martials, civilian court, hospital visits, etc).
About You
We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual who demonstrates:
Have previously served in either the Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force at a minimum rate of substantive OR7.
OR
A background in HR or personnel management. Able to support a wide spectrum of personal and educational issues on a routine basis.
Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging seniors and subordinates.
The ability to work with others in the development of engineering training.
Self-motivated to developing self and others.
Be a UK citizen or British Dual National, having lived in the UK for a minimum of five years continuously prior to application
In addition, it is desirable that applicants hold the following:
A full UK Driving License covering manual vehicles.
Training
The successful candidate will be required to undertake the following on appointment:
Royal Navy Initial Militarisation Course - HMS Sultan (5 days)
Divisional Officers Course
Courseware upskilling packages relevant to training course responsibilities.
Workplace Induction and specific accredited training as required
Salary & benefits
Salary: £51,755 - £53,494 per
Pension: automatic enrolment in the non-contributory Armed Forces Pension Scheme 2015 (optout available).
Leave: 30 days’ annual leave plus eight UK bank holidays.
