A specialist SEN school in Preston is looking to appoint a motivated and resilient Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable, practical experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated behavioural challenges.
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils aged 11-16 through both 1:1 and small group interventions, helping them to engage with learning and develop positive behaviours.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing tailored support to meet individual learning and emotional needs
- Supporting the implementation of structured behaviour management strategies
- Assisting pupils in developing emotional regulation and confidence
- Building positive, consistent relationships as a role model and mentor
- Encouraging re-engagement with education in a supportive environment
This role offers an excellent foundation for graduates considering careers in educational psychology, mental health services, SEN education, or youth work.

- Hold a degree (2:1 or above preferred; Psychology or related fields desirable)
- Demonstrate resilience and confidence when supporting challenging behaviour
- Have experience in SEN, youth work, sports coaching, care, or similar settings (desirable)
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Show a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
