Crynodeb
There are established joint transition clinics with Paediatrics, supporting the regional Paediatric Gastroenterology service. The department offers a comprehensive therapeutic endoscopy service, including regular propofolsedated lists, ERCP, EUS, and SpyGlass procedures. The service is supported by an excellent GI physiology unit, alongside an experienced team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) specialising in IBD and nutrition. Subspecialty interests within Luminal Gastroenterology are actively encouraged. The department is academically active, with ongoing research programmes and strong links with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England, offering opportunities in research, teaching, and training. The post requires independent upper and lower endoscopy, luminal outpatient clinics, and an inpatient responsibility for the luminal gastroenterology ward on a 1:4 rotational basis. The post includes a commitment to the emergency endoscopy rota (1 in 9) plus approximately 5 weekday GIM on calls per annum. We deliver some sessions at South Bristol Community Hospital and some outpatient sessions at Weston General Hospital and the new post holder would share in these responsibilities. Accreditation in Gastroenterology and General Internal medicine is required, although applicants within 6 months of gaining CCT are also encouraged to apply. Further information can be obtained by contacting Dr Jonathan Tyrrell-Price (Departmental Lead), Dr Steve Dixon (Clinical lead for Endoscopy) or Dr Clare Holmes (Divisional Clinical Chair).
