We are recruiting an experienced CNC Miller to join a busy precision engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist who can produce complex, high-quality components and take ownership of part programming, setting and operating CNC machining centres with FANUC and HURCO controls and driven tools.
Key responsibilities
- Part program, set up and operate CNC machining centres (FANUC & HURCO controls) with driven tools to manufacture complex precision engineered components.
- Run medium to high volume batch work efficiently while maintaining tight tolerances and consistent quality.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring parts meet required standards and inspection criteria.
- Carry out first-offs, tool selection, cycle time optimisation and in-process adjustments.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, housekeeping and adhere to health & safety procedures.
- Work closely with production planning, quality and engineering teams to meet delivery targets and continuous improvement objectives.
Essential skills and experience
- Proven experience in CNC milling of complex, precision engineered components.
- Experience of part programming, setting and operating CNC machining centres with FANUC and HURCO controls, including use of driven tools.
- Confident working on medium to high volume batch production environments.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T where required.
- Good understanding of tooling, cutting speeds/feed rates and inspection techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality.
Desirable
- Experience with CAM software and part programming.
- Basic inspection equipment use (micrometers, calipers, verniers).
- Previous experience in a continuous improvement/lean environment.
