Our client is one of the UK’s leading niche environmental consultancies, working within the fields of air quality, noise, vibration, lighting, flood risk, contaminated land and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
They are looking to appoint a Senior / Principal Acoustic Consultant to support continued growth across both environmental and building acoustics projects. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with clear responsibility for mentoring junior team members and contributing to high-quality project outcomes.
You’ll play a key role in shaping project delivery standards while supporting the development of less experienced consultants.
The Role
• Lead and deliver a range of acoustic consultancy projects across:
• Environmental acoustics (noise impact assessments, surveys, reporting)
• Building acoustics (sound insulation testing, design advice, compliance, BREEAM)
• Manage projects from initial brief through to completion
• Produce high-quality technical reports for planning and compliance
• Mentor and support junior consultants, providing technical guidance and oversight
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
• Ensure work is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard
Requirements
Essential
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in acoustic consultancy
• Professional membership of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA)
• Strong technical capability across both environmental and building acoustics
• Proven experience managing projects and delivering reports independently
• Ability to mentor and develop junior staff
• Strong communication skills and client-facing confidence
Desirable
• Stronger experience in either environmental or building acoustics, with some experience in the other discipline
What’s in It For You
• 23 days of annual leave plus bank holidays
• Stakeholder pension scheme
• Paid IOA membership
• CPD / training support
• Flexible/hybrid working (depending on the individual candidate)
• Performance bonus (depending on circumstances)
• Car allowance/mileage (if travel required)
• Access to wellbeing and HR support resources
• Supportive, growing consultancy environment with progression opportunities
