Key Responsibilities:
· To Ensure that you have a good knowledge of both Hotel buildings and Maintenance procedures.
· Be competent in fire safety.
· Knowledge of legionella
· Responsible for all COSHH Training
· Basic Knowledge of Electrics and Plumbing
· Experience of using electric tools.
· Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
· Ensure all contract workers are signed in and instructed accordingly.
· Prioritize the maintenance log.
· Meet daily with Maintenance manager to discuss tasks.
Knowledge and Skills
Basic plumbing knowledge
To Be able to fit a bathroom suite and shower
Leaking joints, burst pipes, freezing pipes when needed
Manage blocked appliances, blocked pipes, blocked traps, blocked drains and man holes.
Know were to isolate the room, isolate the area, isolate the hotel
Basic Working with doors
Plane, chisel, drill, hang and balance
Fit locks, fit hinges, fit door closers, fit handles, bolts, door guards, fit kick plates and push plates
Basic electrical work
light bulbs, fittings, switches, plug sockets
Check if circuits are working, trace trips to DB. Assess why circuit is tripping. Have a knowledge of location of all distribution boards
Tune in and set up TV, trouble shoot why things are not working and rectify
Basic carpentry
Dry wall construction, repair of doors and frames, skirting boards, general wood repairs
Painting and decorating
Work with paints, undercoat, gloss, emulations and varnishes
Prep - filler, sand and seal for coatings
Understanding of products
Wall paper, fit wall boards
Tiling
Apply adhesive, use a datum line for even tiles, cutting tiles, drill tiles, fitting tiles, grouting tiles. Silicon seal were needed
General construction skills
Work with cement and concrete, bricks, slabs, roofing felt and Bitumen
General
Fit curtain rails, treat damp, remove mould.
Monitor the heating and hot water systems
Be able to read and understand instructions
Gas - Know were to shut of gas to areas and building
Health and safety training in all the above
Legionella awareness to include testing, training procedures and record keeping
A full understanding of the fire testing procedures and record keeping
Certificates in Basic electrics and Pluming would be an advantage
