Crynodeb
The Simulation Practitioner will work as a core member of the UHCW Simulation Service team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, multidisciplinary simulation-based education that improves staff capability, patient safety and clinical outcomes. The post holder will support the Simulation Lead and the team in the development, delivery and evaluation of simulation programmes across the organization, while maintaining dynamic collaborative relations with local, regional and national educational services.
The Simulation Service is progressing towards accreditation with the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH). The post holder will contribute to this work through quality improvement, evaluation and collaborative working. This role offers an opportunity to work within a small, dynamic and supportive team committed to innovation, patient safety and continuous professional development.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
• Support and assist the Simulation Lead in the operational delivery and development of the simulation service
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver safe and effective simulation-based education.
• Support the implementation of standards aligned with ASPiH accreditation.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives that enhance patient safety and staff competence
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing service needs.

Clinical/Professional
• Act professionally and maintain accountability for own actions in accordance with the relevant Codes of Professional Conduct. Contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies always.
• Undertake relevant clinical and professional activities to maintain own clinical competencies.
• Ensure that evidence-based practice is incorporated and implemented within simulation activity to improve patient quality care and safety.
• Manage and prioritise standard workload, escalating any issues to the Simulation Lead.
• Respond flexibly to the developing needs of the simulation service; managing development of new materials, products and services in conjunction with the Simulation Lead as required.
• Support course participants during challenging/ emotional situations during simulation training. Escalate issues when appropriate and use clinical incident reporting as required.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and communicate confidently and effectively to all levels of user. Promote professional, courteous behaviour and integrity always.
Education and Development
• Actively participate in the development, implementation and delivery of simulation-based education, contributing to the design of new scenarios and the ongoing evaluation of existing simulation
• Plan and coordinate the day-to-day management of simulation suite activities utilizing the full range of hi fidelity human patient simulators, monitoring equipment, IT and audio-visual systems. Trouble shooting and managing technical issues as they occur.
• Assist in the development of Simulation faculty through peer observation and formal training; offering support and guidance as needed.
• Ensure content and delivery of education is applicable to the staff group involved and mapped to their specific curriculum or competencies.
• Assist in the collection and input of course data/ activity and any other data relevant to Simulation Centre activity.
• Support the Simulation Centre Manager and simulation team through participation at relevant meetings, educational conferences, and development activities.
• Participate in activities supporting progress towards ASPiH accreditation,
• Support development of simulation faculty and learners through facilitation and feedback
• Engage in continuous professional development relevant to simulation-based education.
Research and Practice Development
• Participate in research, audit and projects as required. Support the creation of and present reports and presentations to faculty, learners and prospective customers in conjunction with the Simulation Centre team.
• Promote research/ evidence-based practice and audit outcomes to inform clinical practice and set clinical standards.
Quality Management
• Contribute to the development and marketing strategy for the Simulation Centre. Maintain high standards of customer service and quality in all aspects of work.
• Ensure the cost-effective use and maintenance of manikins/ audio visual system and other simulation equipment for the day to day running of courses.
• Be aware of clinical standards, clinical risk management and clinical audit that are integral to simulation-based education and patient quality and safety.
Clinical Leadership
• Contribute to the financial management of the Simulation Centre, demonstrating cost effectiveness and value for money.
• Take / facilitate appropriate action as a result of any complex issues that occur; supporting staff and users at all levels which may include debriefing and action planning.
• Act as a role model, utilizing opportunities as they arise to enhance knowledge of others in issues relating to simulation, patient safety and quality.
• Promote a culture where staff are valued, supported and able to deliver high quality care.
• Work collaboratively with other professional groups to maximise development opportunities and inter- professional learning opportunities.
• Maximise opportunities to share good practices and innovations with colleagues locally and nationally.
• Contribute to the development of a learning organisation, alerting the appropriate parties to resource issues that may affect this.
• Identify own training and professional development needs to maintain clinical credibility.
• Develop and nurture positive attitudes and behaviours within the teams and wider multidisciplinary team.
• Be prepared to make independent decisions to solve day-to-day operational issues.
• Be prepared to undertake all necessary training relevant to the post.
