Job title: Personal Assistant (PA)
Reporting to: The Employer
Location: Chester, CH2
Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer:
Our client is an 8-year-old girl with complex needs living in the CH2 area of Chester who is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide support for 6 hours per week.
Our client is non-verbal and is a wheelchair user although they can mobilise short distances but can be very unsteady so requires assistance and close supervision when mobilising.
Main duties:
Social duties:
Supervision, assistance and encouragement with all tasks and play.
Personal care: Assistance with personal hygiene – this includes continence care and support to change into clean clothes when required. Administer medication when required. Monitoring of neurological symptoms, adrenal crisis symptoms and hypoglycaemic symptoms.
These duties may vary from day-to-day.
Type of person that you/they are looking for:

Specific requirements: Someone that has previous experience in medication administration and previous experience with PEG feeds although family will deal with the PEG.
Other: Due to the nature of this role including medical & personal care the potential employer will be considering female applicants only.
Hours of work: 6 hours per week – times to be discussed
Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour
Skills, qualifications, and experience
Essential:
Previous experience of working with children with complex care needs.
Medication training
Competence & confidence in escalating concerns/emergencies appropriately
Confidentiality
Good at building relationships
Ability to support people with behaviours which challenge
Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.
This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
