Job Description: Treatment Room Nurse Job Summary The Treatment Room Nurse will work as part of the primary care team to provide high-quality, patient-focused nursing care within the GP surgery. The role includes delivering a wide range of treatment room services, supporting chronic disease management where appropriate, and contributing to the safe and effective running of clinical services. Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Deliver treatment room services including: Wound care and dressings Suture/clip removal ECGs Venepuncture Blood pressure monitoring Administer medications and injections in line with current guidance and scope of practice, including: Vitamin B12 injections Other prescribed injectable therapies (where appropriate) Support vaccination and immunisation programmes (within current national guidance and competency). Assist in the management of patients with long-term conditions where required. Provide cervical cytology (smears) if trained and competent. Promote patient self-care and independence, including teaching patients to self-administer medications where appropriate. Patient Care Deliver safe, evidence-based care in line with practice policies and national guidelines. Maintain accurate, clear, and contemporaneous patient records. Ensure patient dignity, confidentiality, and informed consent at all times. Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately. Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control within clinical areas. Adhere to IPC policies, including safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps. Participate in audits and ensure compliance with external inspection standards. Administrative & Team Responsibilities Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team. Support efficient clinic utilisation and patient flow. Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and service development. Contribute to the induction and support of new staff where appropriate. Professional Responsibilities Maintain NMC registration and adhere to the NMC Code. Work within scope of practice and maintain clinical competencies. Engage in continuing professional development (CPD). Participate in mandatory training and appraisal processes.
