We are currently looking to increase our dedicated support team, providing support to an amazing young man living at home with his family in the Pentyrch, area of Cardiff.
We welcome applicants looking for full or part time hours.
Our client suffered a traumatic brain injury, resulting in complex, cognitive and physical difficulties. He requires 2:1, 24/7 support and would love to meet you if you feel you can genuinely add a great sense of client-focused care and you have a fun, outgoing personality. You will work as part of a dedicated team to support him to engage in all his current activities and interests, which include – music, attending football matches, cooking, and other social and community activities.
Applicant Specifics
· You will ideally, have some previous experience working with people with acquired brain injury, sensory and physical disabilities.
· You hold a L2 qualification in Health & Social care or are willing to work toward this.
· You are a person that is open to training, regular supervisions, and happy to take advice from the team members currently supporting him.
· You are engaging and fun in your approach to the many activities the client enjoys, but keen to discover new options both at home and in the community.
· You are able to engage in humorous types of conversations with the client whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries.
· You can be flexible in terms of working in line with the needs of the client.
· You have a full, clean driving licence and able to drive the client to his many activities and appointments in his wheelchair adapted vehicle.
· You are registered with Social Care Wales or willing to work toward registration.
Working Hours
· Work flexibly over the week Monday-Sunday, as part of a team
. 12-hour shifts: 08:00-20:00; 20:00-08:00.
· Sleeping and waking nights available.
· 12 or 24 hours shifts available.
Responsibilities and Tasks
· Work as part of a dedicated team to provide very personalised care and support for the client with all daily activities of living.
· Work closely with relevant health care professionals involved in the client’s support.
· Assist with therapy sessions as directed by the relevant health professional involved.
· Support the client to attend his many outdoor or community activities.
· Assist with family visits and social activities.
· Understand issues faced by the client and his family.
· Ensure a good understanding of the need to respect the family when working in their home.
