Job Title: Trauma Informed Therapist
Role Overview
We are seeking a Trauma Informed Therapist to support students who may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, emotional distress, or behavioural challenges. The role focuses on providing therapeutic support, promoting emotional regulation, and helping students engage positively in education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide trauma-informed therapeutic support to students on a one-to-one or small group basis
Support students with emotional regulation, anxiety, and behavioural challenges
Develop and implement individual therapeutic support plans
Work closely with safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral teams
Support staff in understanding trauma-informed approaches in the classroom
Provide strategies to help students feel safe and engaged in learning
Liaise with parents/carers regarding therapeutic support where appropriate
Refer students to external services where additional support is required
Maintain accurate and confidential therapeutic records
Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment
Essential Criteria
Experience supporting children or young people with trauma or emotional needs
Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and therapeutic strategies
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable Criteria
Relevant therapy or counselling qualification
Experience working in education or youth settings
Experience supporting students with SEMH needs
Knowledge of safeguarding and referral processes
Experience working with families and external agencies

This role involves working with children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to complete safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
