Summary
Job Description:
Word Practitioners Ministry is seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Minister to support and strengthen families within the church and wider community. The role focuses on delivering pastoral care, family-focused teaching, and faith-based support programmes in line with the ministry’s vision and Statement of Faith.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and deliver family-focused teaching, workshops, and counselling sessions
Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to couples, parents, and families
Support marriage preparation, family development, and relationship counselling
Develop and oversee programmes for children, youth, and family engagement
Conduct home visits and provide support during times of crisis or need
Organise family-oriented events, seminars, and outreach activities
Promote Christian values within family life through discipleship and mentoring
Work closely with other ministry leaders to support holistic church development
Ensure safeguarding policies are followed, especially when working with children and vulnerable individuals
Person Specification:
Essential:
A committed practicing Christian with a clear calling to family and pastoral ministry
Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in a church or family ministry role
Strong knowledge of the Bible and ability to teach and counsel effectively
Experience supporting families, couples, and young people
Good communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and care
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Desirable:
Theological training or recognised ministry qualification
Experience in counselling, mentoring, or family support services
Knowledge of safeguarding and working with vulnerable groups
