Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion, Safeguarding & Personal Development) Full time, permanent positionPay Scale L13-L17 - £69,596.00 - £76,772.00Start Date: 24 August 2026Thank you for your interest in the above post at Limehurst Academy. This post is to begin on 24th August 2026. Limehurst Academy is an exciting place to work and learn. Our school motto is Achievement in a Caring Environment. You will see when you visit the school and talk to the students, teachers, support staff and governors that we are passionate about what we do: getting the best out of every child whatever their abilities, interests or ambitions. We have high aspirations for everyone who is part of our community whether student or member of staff. With this caring ethos we are looking for skilled staff to join us who have a clear passion for helping young people achieve the absolute best they can. We are proud to be a member of the East Midlands Education Trust. At Limehurst, we aim to deliver the highest quality teaching, which encourages greater student responsibility and independence in their learning. We aim to understand quickly the changing needs of each individual in our care and prepare them for the next stage of their education. We challenge and support them to succeed beyond what they believe they are capable of in an environment where students feel safe and relationships are good. We provide them with exciting learning opportunities both in the classroom and beyond that will engage and motivate them so that they will want to come to school. We join with them in celebrating their successes. The school was inspected by Ofsted in April 2022, who confirmed that the school remains a good school. The report can be found on our website, and I strongly encourage you to read it. It begins with the line: “Pupils are unanimous in their praise of Limehurst Academy.” It also says, “Pupils are polite and respectful. In lessons, their conduct is exemplary.” We know our school well but we are not complacent. We are constantly seeking to improve, and deliver outstanding education to the community we serve - a community that we are very proud to be a part of. This post is a crucial one to the school. Limehurst Academy has a higher-proportion than national average of students with SEND, and one-sixth of students are on the school’s own vulnerable list. You will have strategic oversight of SEND and Safeguarding, line-managing the school’s SENDCO (who is also the school’s designated teacher for LAC and post-LAC students) and Student Support manager. You will also work with the Head of PD & Social Sciences to ensure that students who attend Limehurst Academy get the very best personal development provision. You will be an important member of the school’s highly-effective senior leadership team, comprising the Headteacher, the Deputy Headteacher, three other Assistant Headteachers, and the Services Manager. This team is well-established and highly-ambitious for everyone associated with Limehurst Academy. You must be able to bring experience, knowledge, ideas and humour to the team. The job description will give you further details about what we require. Our 2025 results were, again, very strong. Over 50% of our students achieved a Grade 5+ in English & Maths. 41% of our SEN students achieved a Grade 4+ in English & Maths. As has been the case for many years now, all of our headline measures are well above national averages. For instance, 2017 was the last year in which our Progress 8 score dipped below +0.25. We are committed to improving yet again this academic year, and we are determined to do so. Our parents and the local community are extremely supportive of the school. If you believe you have the skills and qualities to help us continue to be successful, then I look forward to receiving your application. You need to apply via the form which you will find on the EMET vacancies webpage. We reserve the right to call suitable applicants for interview before the closing date. On the application form, please focus on a detailed 'supporting statement' taking into account the person specification and indicating why you would be the best person for us to recruit to this position. If you would like further information and require an informal conversation or visit, please telephone or email our school office via 01509 263444 or office@limehurst.org.uk The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
