This busy, friendly, vascular laboratory has a vacancy for a vascular assistant. The post will involve rotation between vascular laboratories on the Aintree and Royal Liverpool Hospitals. Both departments are part of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The main working hours for this job are, Monday to Friday 0830 – 1630. Scope for further weekend, evening and bank holiday working is also expected.
Previous NHS health care experience is an advantage, together with NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a health care based area is expected.
This is an exciting post, requiring multi-disciplinary team working with multiple staff groups both clinical and non clinical. It will involve caring for a wide range of patients and providing assistance with ultrasound-based procedures and examinations.
Under the supervision of a registered Radiographer/Nurse assisting the Departmental team in providing the highest possible standard of care for patients and their families/carer.

Care Duties
• To provide a wide range of assistance to the Imaging Care Group working to established procedure and protocols.
• To ensure the maintenance of clinical care standards and that patients’ are treated with dignity and respect.
• To escort, chaperone and support patients during treatments, investigations or procedures.
• To assist with patient care needs, to include toileting, dressing and
assisting the patient on and off the examination table ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
• Carry out any movement and handling within the safe practice guidelines
from mandatory training and in relation to the patient’s manual handling plan.
• To assist with patient transport to and from the department.
General Duties
• Support all patients, carers, relative and colleagues through effective communication.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas.
• Follow departmental protocols policies and procedures.
• Ensuring consumables are stored appropriately and safely and maintain adequate stock levels
• Prepare used linen bags for collection by Porters and ensure adequate supply of linen bags/skips ready for use.
• Safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per Trust policy
• Be familiar with Trust policy and procedure for reporting clinical incidents, reporting of incidents if they occur.
• Provide support and assistance to new and junior members of staff.
• Supports members of the nursing team in the management of abusive and aggressive behaviour with supervision
• Contribute to the Health, Safety and Security of individuals
• Report equipment faults to manager responsible for the work area
• Ensuring that the code of Practice for Radiation Safety, as drawn up in the local rules, is observed at all times, and report any breaches or problems concerning these rules to the relevant Radiation Protection Supervisor.
