An opportunity has arisen for appointment to the role of Training Programme Facilitator: Early Careers Pharmacist, within the School of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation

As part of the strategy to develop and integrate the NHS workforce and enhance multi-professional team working, NHS England (NHSE) is supporting pharmacy education and workforce transformation.

Through the Pharmacy National Programmes and regional development plans, the NHS is working to ensure that pharmacy professionals play an increasingly visible and expanded role in improving outcomes and value from medicines for patients across our communities.

This work is underpinned by the need for a flexible, productive and affordable healthcare workforce that meets the needs of patients, reflecting evolving care pathways and the values set out in the NHS Constitution and NHS Plan.

The successful applicant will be one of the regional facilitators representing the North West NHSE region, and will be expected to link effectively with the other regional post holders to report to the North West Pharmacy Dean via the Training Programme Director. They will be expected to work across both the Early Careers and Foundation Pharmacy (trainee pharmacist) teams within the North West to support school objectives. They will be based at a local NHSE Office but will be expected to travel to multiple sites across their region with occasional travel to other regions and London.

The successful candidate will be accountable to the Head of School and is responsible for providing professional leadership, together with expertise, advice and support.

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced individuals who can support the national expansion and embedding of the pharmacy pathways, by working with pharmacy and other key stakeholders across their region.

You should have a passion for education, a sound understanding of community or hospital pharmacy and primary care, with experience of working as part of a multi-professional team and a track record of delivering projects to deadlines.

Our staff bring expertise across clinical, operational, commissioning, technology, data science, cyber security, software engineering, education, and commercial specialisms — enabling us to design and deliver high-quality NHS services.

We lead the NHS in England by:
• Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities
• Making the NHS a great place to work, where people can develop and make a difference
• Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
• Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
• Delivering value for money

Earlier this year, the Government announced that NHS England will gradually merge with the Department of Health and Social Care, to create a smaller, more strategic centre that reduces duplication and waste.

If successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the process.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

Applicants should be registered pharmacists and will need prior experience in developing and delivering training in clinical environments and must be able to demonstrate all essential requirements as listed in the job description. The successful applicant will be expected to work across both the Early Careers and Foundation Pharmacy (trainee pharmacist) teams within the North West to support school objectives.

You can find further details about the role, including key responsibilities and accountabilities, alongside the organisational structure and person specification in the attached Job Description and other supporting documents.
Secondments

Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only, agreement should be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application.
