STSFT is seeking a motivated individual to join the team from as a Trust Doctor working at Registrar level at this major Arterial Centre. The post holder will have experience equivalent to that of ST3-6 trainee who wishes to train further in a broad range of vascular and endovascular surgery. The Unit specialises in surgeon-led/delivered endovascular (percutaneous & hybrid) care, aortic surgery, carotid endarterectomy, lower limb reconstruction and complex venous work. Active participation is expected in the departmental meetings, rota management and departmental junior doctor teaching programmes. This post will be based predominantly at Sunderland Royal Hospital vascular hub, although provision of some clinic and day-case activity may be required at South Tyneside Hospital, Bishop Auckland Hospital, University Hospital of North Durham and Durham Treatment Centre. This post is not recognised for training purposes by the Postgraduate Deanery. This is initially a fixed term appointment for 12 months. The successful applicant will work a 1 in 6 vascular on-call with no commitment to General Surgery. There will be opportunities to perform research and to learn endovascular techniques as well as routine open vascular surgery. The Unit specialises in surgeon-led/delivered endovascular (percutaneous & hybrid) care, aortic surgery, carotid endarterectomy, lower limb reconstruction, renal access surgery and complex venous work. Active participation is expected in the departmental meetings, rota management and departmental junior doctor teaching programmes.
