SEND Teaching Assistant (Full-Time, Long-Term)
Location: Walworth, South East London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Pay: £108 - £112 per day (weekly pay)
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
We are currently seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive school in South East London. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting immediately, ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs.
You will be supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASD), ADHD, PMLD, SLD, and complex learning needs.
- Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions
- Support pupils with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, PMLD, and SLD
- Assist teaching staff with lesson delivery and classroom organisation
- Adapt learning materials in line with EHCP targets
- Support emotional regulation, communication, and positive behaviour strategies
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
- Previous experience working in SEND settings (essential)
- Background as a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, LSA, Support Worker, Care Worker, or Youth Worker
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A proactive, adaptable, and team-focused mindset
- A genuine interest in supporting learners with additional needs and progressing within SEN education, teaching, or related fields
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
- Experience supporting children or young people in education, care, or support settings
- Familiarity with ASD, ADHD, PMLD, SLD, or complex needs (desirable)
- Competitive daily rate of £108-£112, paid weekly
