A Vacancy at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
Pharmacist Education & Training Lead – Fixed Term (12 Months)
We’re looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic pharmacist to take the lead on education and training within our pharmacy department at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, part of Mid and South Essex Hospitals NHS Trust.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist who is passionate about developing people and shaping the future pharmacy workforce. You’ll provide leadership for pharmacist education and training, supporting colleagues at all stages of their careers and playing a key role in delivering and developing the Foundation Pharmacist Training pathway. Strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a genuine commitment to personal and professional development are essential.
Alongside your education and training remit, you’ll maintain a clinical role as part of a small, friendly and highly respected pharmacy team working across the emergency floor. This balance offers both strategic influence and hands‑on clinical practice in a fast‑paced, rewarding environment.
If you’re motivated, passionate about education, and keen to make a real impact on both patient care and staff development, we’d love to hear from you.
This post is offered on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis.
You will be based at the Broomfield Hospital site, where you will:
• lead on pharmacist education and training
• be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, and will work to provide excellent care to patients in acute medicine and frailty.
• help to improve patient care through effective medicines reconciliation and medicines optimisation. The role will also include ensuring protocols and guidelines are in line with local and national objectives to ensure cost-effective and safe prescribing within the department.
• have excellent communication and negotiating skills working closely with patients and multi-professional teams throughout the emergency floor.
• be able to work under pressure and alone with excellent prioritisation skills.
• be a qualified independent prescriber having achieved a minimum of a clinical diploma in pharmacy practice.
The successful applicant will contribute to the pharmacist on-call service and the 7-day clinical pharmacy service to the emergency floor, which will involve working weekends (8am to 4pm) with flexible days off during the week in return
Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust
For more information on this varied and rewarding role, please see the attached Job Description.
We look forward to your application!
Please be aware that we reserve the right to close the vacancy early should a high number of applications be received.
