Lime Tree Nursery is a family-run business with eight nurseries across Rotherham, Barnsley, North Notts and Sheffield, providing care for children from birth to five years. We create a home-from-home environment, fostering curiosity and child-led learning using The Curiosity Approach. We encourage children to think independently, nurture their enthusiasm for learning and prepare them for school and beyond.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Level 3 SENCO practitioner to join us as a SENCO, working up to 40 hours per week.

You will be responsible for leading and managing the of support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in the nursery. The SENCO will work closely with the company director, nursery team, parents and carers, and external agencies to ensure that children with SEND receive the appropriate support and accommodations to reach their full potential.

The designated SENCO is responsible for:

Leading and managing the provision of support and day to day operations for children with SEND in the nursery setting
Liaising with and advising fellow members of staff
Maintaining a SEND register and overseeing the records of all children with special educational needs;
Ensure that all children with SEND have an up-to-date support plan, individualized Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP) in place and that these are reviewed regularly.
Ensure that all ISG paperwork and claims for funding are submitted in a timely manner ensuring all deadlines are adhered too.
Work with the nursery team to ensure that all children with SEND receive the appropriate accommodations and support to succeed
Develop and implement policies and procedures for identifying and assessing children with SEND, and for the provision of support and accommodations in line with UK legislation and best practices
Act as a point of contact for parents and carers of children with SEND, providing information, advice, and support
Liaise with external agencies, such as Portage, local authority, health services, educational psychology and speech and language therapists, to ensure that children receive the appropriate support and accommodations
Keep up-to-date with current research, legislation, and best practices in SEND, and use this knowledge to inform practice
Ensure existing and new members of staff aware of SEND policies and procedures;
Work with the nursery manager to ensure that the nursery's SEND provision is of a high quality and that it meets the needs of all children with SEND
Attend and participate in annual review and other meeting relating to children with SEND

Qualifications

Experience working with children with SEND in an early years setting
A Level 3 recognised childcare qualification
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practices is desirable
