About the Opportunity

An established and highly regarded structural steelwork specialist is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. Based near Barnsley.

With decades of industry experience and a strong pipeline of projects across the UK and Europe, the business delivers a diverse range of schemes - from straightforward building frames to complex, large-scale structures.

The Role

You will take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of multiple projects, ensuring financial performance is maximised while maintaining strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.

This is a varied, hands-on role with exposure to projects nationwide, offering both responsibility and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full commercial lifecycle of projects
  • Review and negotiate subcontract terms and documentation
  • Prepare and agree variations, valuations, and final accounts
  • Monitor project costs, margins, and cashflow forecasts
  • Provide commercial and contractual guidance to internal teams and clients
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and stakeholders
  • Attend project sites across the UK as required
About You
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role within construction
  • Experience in structural steel or related sectors is advantageous
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Relevant qualification (HND/Degree) preferred
  • Professional membership (e.g. RICS) is beneficial
