About the role:

As part of the Peninsula Medical School, one of England’s top medical schools, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the development of future healthcare professionals in a progressive and cutting-edge environment.

As our receptionist, you will:

• Be responsible for greeting visitors and providing assistance in person, over the phone, and via email.
• Efficiently manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including sorting emails and promptly responding to inquiries.
• Handle scheduling appointments and meetings.
• Assist with data entry and record-keeping when needed to contribute to the seamless functioning of our office.
• Support the administrative team by tackling ad-hoc tasks and projects with enthusiasm and efficiency.

Further role information:

The role is primarily based in the student-facing Faculty Office located in the John Bull Building on North Campus. However, occasional travel to other University sites - particularly the Main Campus - may be required. An essential requirement of this position is the ability to travel to and work across multiple University locations and/or other business sites, some of which may not be easily accessible by public transport. Further details are outlined in the job description.

This is a a fixed-term basis to cover a secondment until July 2027. Your working pattern will be during office open hours, as below:

8.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday
8.30am - 4.00pm Friday

Due to the nature of the role, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate working from home.

We’re currently unable to sponsor this role under the Skilled Worker visa route. However, we welcome applicants who already have the right to work in the UK, including those on visa routes we can accept (e.g. Graduate visas).

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking an organised individual with the ability to problem solve and good time management. Additionally you will have:

• Experience in an administrative role within a customer service environment
• Previous experience in a receptionist role or working within a medical/education environment is desirable
• Experience handling challenging customer interactions
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook and databases
