Hours: 35 Hours and 50 Minutes per Week, Fixed Term Contract to 31st August 2027, Term Time Only (39 Weeks per Year)

St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School is a larger than average primary school in the heart of Leam Lane Estate, Gateshead.

We are proud to be part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, a family of secondary, middle, primary and first schools in Durham, Gateshead, Northumberland and Sunderland. Bishop Wilkinson is the largest catholic education trust in the North East of England and will have a total of 48 schools. This is an exciting time to join our supportive, and growing team.

The Governors wish to appoint a committed, motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our highly effective team. The role will be to work with children across the whole school. The successful candidate will be required to provide support for all pupils including children with SEN. They will work in class, with small groups and individuals.

We are looking to appoint:
• An enthusiastic, proactive person with a positive attitude to work with class teachers in supporting our children to achieve their full potential.
• You will be working across the school and also carrying out small group work. You will support teachers with resources, planning and creating a highly stimulating learning environment which provides rich, varied and imaginative experiences.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:
• High expectations of children’s learning and behaviour
• Excellent classroom practice
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
• Energy, enthusiasm and a good sense of humour
• Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom
• A commitment to work in close partnership with parents and carers

Previous experience of working with children would be an advantage.
