We are seeking a skilled and proactive professional to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of vital clinical equipment, helping to deliver high‑quality patient care with minimal disruption. This role plays a key part in maintaining service continuity by reducing equipment downtime and ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.

You will work with a wide and technically diverse portfolio of clinical equipment, including complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer-controlled, and medical gas systems. You will apply your technical expertise to diagnose faults, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and support the ongoing performance and safety of clinical services.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a technical, healthcare-focused environment and takes pride in ensuring that critical equipment is available, safe, and fit for purpose when it matters most.

You will deliver a high‑quality technical service, working autonomously with general and complex medical equipment in both clinical and workshop environments to ensure devices are safe, reliable, available and effective for patient care.

This includes commissioning, calibrating, deploying and maintaining equipment such as infusion devices, patient monitors and defibrillators, often while still connected to patients. You will investigate and diagnose faults, clearly communicating findings to users, colleagues and suppliers, and demonstrate correct equipment operation when required.

You will maintain accurate maintenance, audit and asset records using computerised systems, ensure Medical Equipment Library devices are ready for deployment, and respond professionally to issues involving patient‑connected equipment. The role involves close liaison with clinical staff to support safe device use, contribution to training activities, coordination with suppliers, and provision of first‑line support for interfaces with specialist clinical IT systems.

You will monitor stock levels, contribute to maintenance schedules and departmental procedures, participate in ISO 9001:2015 quality activities, manage competing priorities, supervise and train junior staff, take part in the MEMS on‑call rota, and maintain ongoing professional development.

Occasional exposure to distressing clinical situations is required.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.

For more information on this varied and rewarding role, please see the attached Job Description.

We look forward to your application!

Please be aware that we reserve the right to close the vacancy early should a high number of applications be received.
