What skills and experience we're looking for

The Position

The successful applicant will be a key member of the team, carrying out the professional duties of a teacher while taking direct responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Special Educational Unit (SEU).

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the daily organisation of the SEU, including staff inductions, performance reviews, and coordinating cover in response to absences.
• Modelling strong practice and delivering high-quality lessons, specifically for pupils with learning disabilities.
• Taking responsibility for the standards and progress achieved by specified classes/year groups and monitoring the specific needs of pupils with SEN.
• Working with the Principal to identify training needs and designing / delivering professional development to ensure the team maintains high standards.
• Acting as a vital link to Trust-wide groups, attending meetings to represent the school's position and communicating outcomes back to the Principal to drive school improvement.

What you will offer

The successful applicant will have a previous experience working in a SEN provision. You will be qualified to degree level (or equivalent), be able to demonstrate knowledge of effective strategies to meet the specific communication needs of pupils with significant SEND, and must be able to plan lessons effectively for groups and all the pupils.

You will have successful teaching experience across primary, secondary or both. You will have strong subject knowledge in your own subject and also the ability to teach across other subject areas.
