A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
The Anaesthetics Department co-ordinates the provision of a comprehensive anaesthetic service and the recent expansion of surgical services has seen a rapid increase in the size of the department, with several new Consultant Anaesthetists and Specialty Doctors being appointed in the last 3 years.
The appointee will be supervised by a team of consultants providing anaesthetic support to a wide range of surgical specialties.
UHDB provides services for Trauma and Orthopaedics, ENT, Faciomaxillary Surgery, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Urological Surgery, and Ophthalmic Surgery. There are 35 operating theatres including a busy purpose-built day case surgery department (Kings Treatment Centre). There is a 16-bedded level 2/3 Intensive Care Unit at the RDH site and a 16-bedded post-surgical step-down unit.
Consultants take an active interest in the education and training of junior staff. The examination record of the department is excellent, and Specialty Doctors are supported in their efforts to take exams.
The Regional Anaesthesia Fellow will play a pivotal role in advancing the department's commitment to excellence in regional anaesthetic practice and education. The position comprises predominantly clinical regional anaesthesia activity alongside active engagement in the department's regional anaesthesia teaching and course delivery programme. The fellow will also be encouraged to develop projects that align with their own professional interests and contribute to the wider regional anaesthesia community.
