To be a clinical lead for the Rheumatology Team with responsibility for the planning delivery and evaluation of the service provided on a day-to-day basis.
To be responsible, as a Team leader, for the management,organisationand development of Physiotherapy services within theRheumatologyspeciality, working in partnership with the Physiotherapy Team Manager and other Advanced Physiotherapists.
To work as an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for the management of a clinical caseload, providing highly specialised assessment,treatmentand advice to patients.
Toprovidehighly specialist advice to the speciality team and to staff working in other specialist areas or professions.
To provide supervision, advice and guidance to Specialist Physiotherapists and Physiotherapists,assistantsand students on a day-to-day basis.
Tobe responsible forthe clinical practice of physiotherapy assistants and Undergraduate Physiotherapy students who work under your supervision.
To take a leading role in the planning and delivery of training and education for the physiotherapy team, to support the professional and personal development of staff.
To undertake comprehensive and highly specialised physiotherapy assessment of physical problems, frequentlyofa highly complexnature using highly advanced clinical reasoning and assessment skills to providean accuratediagnosis andindicationoflikely outcome
To formulate an individual and agreed treatment plan based on in–depth knowledge of evidence basedpractice and carry outappropriate treatmentin a manner that respects people’s privacy,dignityand individuality.
To monitorthe appropriateness of referrals to the Rheumatology Physio Team
To regularlyprovidehighly specialist advice,assistanceand education for Physiotherapists,assistantsand studentswith regard topatient management.
To accept patients transferred from other team members where the complexity of their problems requires a more highly specialised level of expertise.
To implement and review clinical standards relevant to the work undertaken by the team, ensuringa high levelof patient care is provided.
To supervise and support Specialist Physiotherapists, Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy Assistants and Clerical staff, in partnership with the team manager & clinical lead Physiotherapists.
To be responsible forthe clinical practice of Physiotherapy Assistants & students who work under your supervision. To be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and attend relevant meetingsprovidingspecialist advice on patient care.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
