Adult Social Care on the Isle of Wight is committed to helping people live well in their own homes and communities. Our practice is grounded in self-directed support, strengths-based assessment and strong partnership working, ensuring people and carers can shape solutions that work for them.

We are looking for a Social Worker who can bring confident, person-centred practice to a varied and influential role. You will support adults and carers to complete needs assessments that build on strengths, networks and community resources, while ensuring statutory duties are met when formal support is required.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across health, social care and the voluntary sector to develop effective care plans, manage risk and promote positive outcomes. The role includes safeguarding work, holding a caseload of complex cases, and contributing to high-quality, timely decision-making. You will also provide guidance and support to other social care staff, including mentoring newly qualified practitioners and acting as a point of escalation when needed.

As an experienced practitioner, you’ll contribute to leadership within the team through reflective practice, sharing expertise and supporting service improvement. You may be asked to deputise for a Senior Social Worker and help coordinate team activity. The role also includes providing emergency and crisis support outside of core hours as part of a formal rota.

You will be a confident, professionally registered Social Worker with strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act and safeguarding practice. You will be able to bring sound judgement, a calm approach to risk, and a commitment to person-centred, strengths-based working. If you value collaborative practice, support the development of others and take pride in delivering high-quality services then we look forward to receiving your application.

In return, you’ll join a service that values professionalism, reflective practice and strong leadership, where your experience will be recognised and your contribution will have a real impact on the lives of Island residents.
