What skills and experience we're looking for
The school wishes to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and imaginative Specialist HLTA to support the learning of pupils in our Higher Needs Base. This is post is to commence as soon as possible.
Sunnyside Academy is a large mainstream primary school situated in Coulby Newham with three support bases for children with a Deaf/Hearing Impairment, children with a Visual Impairment and children with moderate learning difficulties. The successful applicant will work alongside a dedicated team within the Key Stage 2 Higher Needs Base.
The successful candidate will:
• Collaborate with teachers in planning and delivering programmes of teaching and learning activities for classes. The primary focus will be to undertake specialist educational activities with individuals, groups and whole classes, within an agreed framework.
• Supporting pupils with behavioural needs and leading interventions.
• The successful candidate will work with teachers to support teaching and learning through leading on the provision of specialist support to both the teacher and school, by covering classes and interventions as required, alongside supporting learning within the classroom.
Applicants will possess NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. The school is looking for applicants with excellent communication and IT skills, who can develop effective relationships with pupils and colleagues.
