We are seeking applications from motivated and committed individuals to undertake training to become a Clinical Perfusion Scientist. This role is an apprenticeship over 30 months.
The successful applicants will undertake full in-service training incorporating practical experience under supervision and academic study on monthly block release as part of the post Graduate Perfusion Science MSc programme at University of Bristol necessary to achieve professional accreditation.
The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Care Group provides a regional service and is one of the largest Clinical Care Groups within the Trust. Currently, the cardiac team undertakes 1800 adults and 400 paediatric procedures per year within five cardiac theatres.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Responsibilities will include the setting up and control of the heart-lung bypass equipment, which provides life support for adults during cardiac surgery. You will work towards becoming a qualified and autonomous practitioner, able to deliver clinical and professional perfusion services to the multidisciplinary team.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A relevant Honours Degree (minimum 2:1) will be required to be eligible to undertake the Perfusion Science MSc. The post-holder will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work in a team, be able adapt and respond to changing situations and the ability to work for long period of time under pressure.
