We are seeking an Assistant Facilities Manager to ensure the safe, compliant and competent delivery of facility services across a government contract.
This role is accountable to the Regional Facilities Manager (RFM) and is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of onsite facilities staff (Placemakers) and contractors within a defined regional area.
Job Description
We are looking for a proactive and people-focused individual who will work closely with Placemaker teams to deliver an excellent workplace experience for customers.
The role will also support the contract management team in the delivery and ongoing development of service solutions, identifying service improvement, cost control and revenue opportunities while maintaining full compliance with health, safety and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure safe, compliant and effective delivery of soft facilities services across a government site portfolio
Line manage, supervise and support onsite Placemakers and contractors within the region
Maintain a healthy, safe and secure environment, ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety legislation
Manage rostering of Placemakers to meet contractual requirements, covering sickness and planned absences
Ensure audits, COSHH, H&S documentation, SOPs and compliance records are completed, reviewed and kept up to date
Support recruitment, training, development, appraisal and succession planning for frontline teams
Control costs within agreed budgets, including materials, consumables, pay and agency labour usage
Support contract mobilisation activities, including TUPE transfers, and promote collaboration across business functions
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Experience working in customer-facing environments with soft services
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with different levels of management
Competent in using Microsoft Office packages
Experience liaising with engineers is desirable
IOSH qualification desirable (training can be provided)
Soft services qualifications are beneficial
Full UK driving licence required, with flexibility to support other sites when needed
