The friendly team on the Chemotherapy Day Unit deliver nurse led services for patients receiving Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy (SACT) to treat solid tumours and haematological conditions, including those participating in clinical trials and TYA patients
The service has achieved Gold Accreditation, reflecting its high standardsof patient care.

A Senior Staff Nurse in a Haematology & Oncology Day Unit provides high‑quality, patient‑centred care to patients receiving systemic anti‑cancer therapies (SACT), blood products, and supportive treatments in an ambulatory setting. The role combines advanced clinical skills with leadership, education, and service development responsibilities.
What You’ll Be DoingClinical Practice
• Deliver safe, evidence‑based nursing care to patients with haematological and oncological conditions
• Administer SACT, immunotherapy, blood and blood products in line with local and national policies
• Assess, monitor, and manage treatment‑related side effects, including acute oncological emergencies
• Perform venepuncture, cannulation, central venous access device (CVAD) care (e.g. PICCs, ports)
• Provide holistic assessment, symptom management, and patient education
• Act as a clinical role model, maintaining high standards of infection control and medicines management
