Your new company
Our client is a well-established and growing environmental consultancy operating across the UK. The organisation delivers high-quality ecological and environmental services to a broad client base and is continuing to expand its specialist ecology team in the North West.
They are currently looking for a Consultant Ecologist, to join their collaborative and experienced ecology team, supporting a diverse portfolio of development and infrastructure projects. This role will focus primarily on the delivery of Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), alongside a range of protected species surveys and reporting duties.

Your new role
The main responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) in accordance with current best practice
  • Conducting habitat and ecological surveys (including protected species where applicable)
  • Preparing clear, accurate, and well-structured ecological reports
  • Providing pragmatic ecological advice to clients and project teams
  • Supporting mitigation strategies and planning submissions
  • Ensuring compliance with UK wildlife legislation and planning policy


What you'll need to succeed

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 1-2 years consultancy experience
  • Proven experience carrying out Preliminary Ecological Appraisals
  • Good working knowledge of UK ecological legislation and planning requirements
  • Experience producing high-quality technical reports
  • A full UK driving licence


Desirable:

  • Membership (or eligibility) of CIEEM
  • Experience with protected species surveys
  • Familiarity with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) processes
  • Experience working in a consultancy environment
