Crynodeb
The post offered is that of Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry (4PA), working in the newly configured Haringey West CORE Team. The Locality Team is aligned to the West Haringey Primary Care Network linked with the GPs to the West of the Borough.
General Expectations of a Consultant Psychiatrist employed with North London NHS Foundation Trust include:
• To work within the MDT promoting respect for all professional groups and focusing upon coherent and integrated teamwork.
• To be Section 12(2) approved and have approved clinician status.
• To provide second opinions for consultant colleagues if requested.
• To keep up with administration and note-keeping on the electronic patient record system in a timely manner, including letters to GPs, Dialog+ and risk assessments.
• To assist with Serious Incident investigations and complaints if requested.
• To keep up to date with mandatory training.
• To attend and participate in Consultants' and Management meetings to keep informed of service issues and developments.
• Other management/clinical supporting activity (to be negotiated as required by the Trust.)

The post holder will be expected to provide clinical leadership for the Haringey West Locality Team. The post-holder will be expected:
• To manage an established caseload of patients with SMI, many of whom use medication.
• To contribute to the management of non-SMI clients in collaboration with colleagues from psychological therapies service streams and other staff groups working in the team.
• To act as Responsible Clinician (RC) for the clients of the West Locality Team treated on a Community Treatment Order (CTO, S17A MHA) under your PCN.
• To contribute to the assessment of newly referred cases per month and formulate appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with colleagues in other disciplines.
• To comply with all legal obligations covering clinical practice e.g. Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, safeguarding procedures.
• To complete relevant paperwork, including maintaining the electronic record and participating in routine outcome monitoring of clinical work.
• To supervise and facilitate learning to medical staff and other professionals in all aspects of psychiatric care.
• To participate in the Haringey consultant psychiatrist on-call rota (1:32).
• To participate in the weekly team meeting and undertake other duties, as negotiated, that contribute to the good functioning of the clinical team.
• To provide clinical and professional leadership within the post and take part in management activities and governance processes related to the post or the wider service within which it is embedded.
• As a senior clinician, to have an integral role in the performance of the team, further development of the service, and the development of the clinical pathways and priorities of the service line.
