Main duties and responsibilities Clinical duties Undertake a range of enhanced clinical observations and procedures, including: Blood pressure monitoring Height, weight, and BMI measurement Venepuncture ECG recording Urinalysis Support delivery of NHS Health Checks and other screening programmes Assist in the monitoring and recall of patients with long-term conditions Provide support for immunisation and vaccination clinics, including childrens services (where trained) Perform wound care and dressings (within competency) Chaperone patients during clinical examinations as required Recognise and report any abnormalities or concerns to a registered clinician Patient care and health promotion Deliver health promotion and lifestyle advice, including smoking cessation, weight management, and physical activity Support improved uptake of cancer screening and preventative programmes Engage effectively with patients from diverse and underserved communities Provide a high standard of compassionate, person-centred care at all times Administrative and organisational duties Maintain accurate and timely clinical records using the practice clinical system Support patient recall systems and data quality improvement initiatives Contribute to QOF and quality improvement activities Ensure clinical rooms are appropriately stocked, clean, and prepared Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures Team working and development Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, including GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives Contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and shared best practice Support the training environment within the practice Professional responsibilities Work within the scope of practice and competencies appropriate to a Band 4 Healthcare Assistant Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations Follow practice policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures Support safeguarding processes for children and vulnerable adults Participate in appraisal and ongoing professional development
