Job Summary
We are seeking skilled and reliable Cook Staff to prepare authentic Ghanaian dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen efficiency. The ideal candidate should have experience in West African cuisine, particularly Ghanaian meals, and be able to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of Ghanaian dishes such as jollof rice, banku, fufu, waakye, grilled meats, and stews, pastries
Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning of all meals.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen in compliance with food safety regulations.
Assist with food prep tasks including chopping, marinating, and ingredient storage.
Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages to the supervisor.
Follow standard recipes while also contributing ideas for menu improvements.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service.
Requirements
Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a Ghanaian or West African restaurant.
Strong knowledge of traditional Ghanaian cooking techniques and ingredients.
Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal culinary training or certification.
Experience preparing large quantities of food.
Knowledge of both traditional and modern Ghanaian cuisine.
Working Conditions
Fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat and cooking equipment.
Standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights.
