The postholder will deliver high-quality, safe, and effective primary care services to the registered patient population of Toddington Medical Centre. The role includes the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients presenting with a wide range of undifferentiated and chronic conditions. The Salaried GP will work within a structured, multidisciplinary team model, contributing to a sustainable workload environment, and supporting the delivery of accessible, patient-centred care aligned with NHS priorities and local commissioning requirements. Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Provide comprehensive general medical services to registered patients Undertake face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions Prescribe safely and appropriately in line with local and national guidelines Manage patients presenting with undifferentiated illness Undertake home visits where clinically indicated Duty Doctor Responsibilities Participate in a shared duty doctor rota Manage urgent same-day demand Provide clinical oversight and support to the wider team Ensure safe and timely decision-making for urgent presentations Administrative Duties Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and legally compliant clinical records Review laboratory results, clinical correspondence, and hospital letters Complete referrals, reports, and other documentation in a timely manner Process prescription requests in line with practice protocols Contribute to workflow management within allocated admin time Multidisciplinary Working Work collaboratively with: GP Partners Advanced Clinical Practitioner Clinical Pharmacists & Pharmacy Technician Practice Nurses & HCAs GP Assistants and administrative teams Support appropriate delegation of workload to ARRS roles Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions where required Contribute to integrated care within the Primary Care Network (PCN) Clinical Governance & Quality Adhere to professional standards set by the General Medical Council Comply with all relevant clinical governance frameworks Participate in: Clinical audit Significant Event Analysis (SEA) Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives Maintain awareness of NICE guidelines and local ICB pathways Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met (children and vulnerable adults) Training & Education Toddington Medical Centre is a recognised training practice. The postholder may: Support and supervise GP Registrars Contribute to the teaching of medical students (Cambridge University) Provide informal mentorship to junior clinicians Engage in personal continuing professional development (CPD) Workload & Organisation Deliver care within a structured sessional model (typically 4h 10m per session) Work within defined clinical and administrative time Engage with practice systems designed to: Optimise workload Reduce unnecessary GP demand Improve efficiency and patient access Utilise digital tools to enhance workflow and patient care Digital & Clinical Systems Use SystmOne for all clinical documentation Engage with digital consultation platforms (eConsult, Accurx) Maintain high standards of data quality and coding Support the use of digital tools including the NHS App Patient Care & Communication Deliver patient-centred, compassionate care Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues Support shared decision-making Manage patient expectations appropriately within service capacity Contribute to maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction Health & Safety / Risk Management Comply with practice policies on health and safety Identify and report risks or incidents Participate in risk management processes Ensure safe prescribing and clinical practice Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Act in a non-discriminatory manner at all times Promote equality and diversity in service delivery Respect cultural, social, and individual differences Professional Development Maintain full registration and licence to practise with the General Medical Council Participate in annual appraisal and revalidation Engage in ongoing CPD Maintain an up-to-date professional portfolio Person Specification (Summary)Essential Qualified General Practitioner (MRCGP or equivalent) Full GMC registration with licence to practise Inclusion on NHS Performers List Strong clinical and communication skills Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Desirable Experience in UK General Practice Interest in teaching or training Special clinical interest (e.g. diabetes, dermatology, minor surgery) Experience with digital triage systems Working Relationships The postholder will work closely with: GP Partners Practice Manager and Operations Team Clinical and administrative staff Primary Care Network colleagues External healthcare providers Additional Information The role may evolve in line with service development and NHS priorities The postholder may be required to undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the role Flexibility is expected to support service delivery
