Torus is seeking a reliable and conscientious part-time Handyperson to help maintain our Extra Care Scheme to the highest
standards. This varied role involves cleaning and maintaining both internal and external communal areas, as well as working within
residents’ homes, to ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-presented environment. Working closely with internal teams and
contractors, you will play a key part in keeping the scheme free from tipping, graffiti, and vandalism, while supporting building
compliance. The role is based predominantly in Warrington, with occasional cover required at other schemes in St Helens and
Liverpool.
This position is offered on a part-time basis, working 25 hours per week.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Assist with the cleaning of all communal areas; undertake weekly internal and external inspections and report any issues that
arise, involving residents were possible
* Maintain the external and internal communal garden areas including lawns, shrubs, paved areas and pathways working
collaboratively with internal garden teams were required
* Undertake small scale maintenance work, minor repairs, and decorating when required
* Maintain all stairwells; refuse areas, landings and walkways. Ensure all are free from rubbish/debris
* Test fire alarm weekly and carry out regular fire precaution checks and maintain records
* Test emergency lighting weekly and emergency alarm equipment with staff on quarterly basis
* Work towards challenging targets which will be reviewed monthly and maintain accurate records including updating electronic
systems
* Monitor the condition of the schemes and report issues and health / safety concerns
* Monitor and maintain the condition and security of empty homes working closely with Neighbourhood, Void and allocation teams
What We’re Looking For:
* GCSE grade 3 and above education or equivalent relevant qualification, training or experience.
* Experience of undertaking low level repairs and maintenance
* Evidence of managing personal resilience when dealing with difficult situations and identifying mechanisms to deal with these.
* Knowledge and Experience of Safeguarding Practices and Procedures
* Track record of building a rapport with clients whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
* Demonstrates a commitment to H&S to ensure safe operations and environment for staff and customers.
Interview Process:
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview at Harpers Green, Padgate, Warrington on Tuesday 5th May 2026. You will be
asked competency-based questions to assess your skills and suitability for the position.
