Edward Vinson Ltd is based in the South East of England and has been growing fruit for over 150 years and now consists of three main departments: Breeding, Propagation and Commercial field production. We specialize in growing strawberries and raspberries.
You will be responsible for picking fruits from our open fields or under poly tunnels. Additionally, you will be required to assist with husbandry tasks, tunnel maintenance, and propagation duties as needed.
In April we can offer mainly husbandry work and strawberry picking. Husbandry work include runner cutting, stringing, weeding, truss control, raspberry planting. Our mini tabletop fields start giving fruits at the end of April and continue until the end of the season which means work requires lots of bending. Later in May we start picking out table tops strawberry fields. At the end of May we start picking our raspberry fields. You will be asked to work on open fields or under poly tunnels.
Please be prepared it may be very hot under the poly tunnels, take with you sun hat, sun cream and make sure you drink plenty of water during the day.
Work will involve heavy lifting e.g. tray of strawberries, pushing trolleys with trays of picked fruit, lot of bending, crouching and stretching will be involved on a frequent basis so requires someone who is physically strong and dexterous.
No previous experience is required as full training will be provided. Jobs are on piecework, there will be an hourly target which you will be required to reach.
We wish to emphasise that no fees or costs associated with the recruitment process should be borne by our workers. Regardless of the method, timing, or location of such fees or charges, securing employment or placement at our farm should not incur any financial burden.
